Bill; I don’t claim to know much about golf, only golfer I can remember, Tony Jacklin
Have been known to have access to the Claret Jug though - honestly, the jug was in our house for about two weeks.
Couldn’t wait to see the back of the thing, granddaughter was always trying to post toys into it
Dreaded the thought of such an important item being lost or stolen.
I was so relieved when it was won
My son worked for a P.R. Company in Liverpool, his job was to help arrange the British Open at St Anne’s.
The trophy was to be presented at all major sports events around the country, (never off the tele)
The Jug travelled up and down the country in the boot of my car - which Joe had borrowed!
He was living at home at the time, so the Jug was back here every night..
