Big weekend of sport.

Postby Invicta » Fri Jul 12, 2019 6:43 pm

This weekend we have a brilliant display of the best in the World of Sport, I can’t wait.
Wimbledon Finals
World Cup Cricket Final
British Grand Prix F1

It’s Cricket for me with FI on record. Janette will be glued to the Tennis hoping Fedders wins ( if he gets through )

Enjoy

Hey cus not forgetting the Netball World Cup only being held in Liverpool Echo Arena. Every game is being televised on channel 4 and Sky.

Don't think I'll be tuning in for that Cus.
Liverpool certainly is an important venue for lots of things these days.

Can’t be any golf fans on here as nobody has mentioned the Scottish Open.
My choices for tomorrow in order of preference are the cricket first, then the golf & Liverpool v Bradford, then the F1 and the tennis. I don’t think we’ve ever been so spoilt for choice.

Henry I’d rather watch a game of draughts than netball. :)

Count me as the no golf fan Bill. I played a lot until a slipped disc but can’t stand to watch it.
Enjoy your sports.

I love watching the golf, and usually have a little bet on whatever big tournament is on, just to add a little interest. While typing this I am watching the Scottish Open on my I-pad. Incidentally golf is one of my wife’s favourite sports for watching, although she has never played it in her life.

Golfers have got to be the laziest of sportsmen as they don't even carry their own clubs but get others to carry them around the greens

Genuine people do that and also run and not make a meal of it
Doing 6 miles a day is a stroll

Bill; I don’t claim to know much about golf, only golfer I can remember, Tony Jacklin :)
Have been known to have access to the Claret Jug though - honestly, the jug was in our house for about two weeks.
Couldn’t wait to see the back of the thing, granddaughter was always trying to post toys into it
Dreaded the thought of such an important item being lost or stolen.
I was so relieved when it was won :D
My son worked for a P.R. Company in Liverpool, his job was to help arrange the British Open at St Anne’s.
The trophy was to be presented at all major sports events around the country, (never off the tele)
The Jug travelled up and down the country in the boot of my car - which Joe had borrowed!
He was living at home at the time, so the Jug was back here every night..
Following picture of the Grandchildren with uncle Joe and Claret Jug :D

What a brilliant day of sport.
You couldn’t write that finish in the cricket, lucky but we’ll take it.
Lewis did what Lewis does at Silverstone, brilliant as always.
Them two foreign fellas at Wimbledon also put on a good show, pity no Brits.

Congratulations to all , great entertainment, edge of the seat stuff, just loved it.
Happy Days

Don't follow cricket and after all these years this fella still doesn't understand it!!!!!
But watched it today flipping over to watch the mens Wimbledon final.
Bloody ell what a finish to the cricket, tense edge of the seat jobby, brilliant.
Tennis also a great tense Finnish.
Roll on the start of the new footy season, not forgetting the Netball World Cup happening in Liverpool.

I had the cricket on one iPad and Liverpool v Bradford on another, while my wife watched the tennis on tv.
A great finish to the cricket but NZ desperately unlucky. The more I see of Curtis Jones at Liverpool the more convinced I am that he will make the grade. He was the standout performer today.

England 241 for 10 off all the overs
New Zealand 241 for8 off all the overs
England won :!:
Didn't make sense to me as if you have more players most likely you would get more boundaries

Me neither. Drawing huge crowds at the Arena though.
On the train home from seeing QM2 it was chocker block with mums and young girls sporting Netball kits.

Yes, it's really exciting Henry, they should try the same tactics in football. Every time someone gets into the penalty area everyone else should stop and let them have a free shot at goal, it would really liven things up

On corner kicks in footy they should penalise any one using their hands to obstruct other players in the penalty area and that would really liven things up and make fair play
