HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHER PEOPLE YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD? WELL...YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE!
MY NAME IS ALICE SMITH AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DENTAL DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.
SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY SECONDARY SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO. COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?
UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT. THIS BALDING, GREY HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS FAR TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.
AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK SECONDARY SCHOOL ..
'YES, YES I DID. I'M A MORGANNER!' HE BEAMED WITH PRIDE.
'WHEN DID YOU LEAVE TO GO TO COLLEGE?' I ASKED
HE ANSWERED, “IN 1965. WHY DO YOU ASK?”
'YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!' I EXCLAIMED.
HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.
THEN THAT UGLY,
OLD,
BALD,
WRINKLED,
FAT ARSED,
GREY HAIRED,
DECREPIT,
******* ASKED....
“WHAT DID YOU TEACH?

  You've struck a chord there Ken. Coming across people I haven't seen for a while my first reaction is sometimes "Jeez they've aged". No doubt they're thinking the same about me.

I had the opposite experience to this as a teacher. I met an old pupil and asked if they remembered me from school Where you in my class they asked?

I often meet pupils who I taught up to 45 years ago. They often say I haven't changed a bit, my stock reply is "I really hope I didn't look like this when I was 21!!

Really funny  Ken, we must all be the same, I’m guilty of not recognising anyone from primary school...
I’m O.K. with voices, just not appearances - had no old people in our class :D (sorry couldn’t help that  )

Being down here Shelagh, I’ve never met any old school friends primary or secondary in over 50 years but I think I would remember most if the occasion ever arose. :D Ken
