I had digs with Ted and Elsie between 1970 and 1974 when I was a student at the polytech in Liverpool. Does anyone remember them? Ted was 65 when I arrived, Elsie was younger so both will be long dead but they made me so welcome to Bootle and I retain fond memories of them. Ted had a sister, Winifred, who was a probation officer in Liverpool and a friend of the then MP, Simon Mahon.
I drank in the Mons where the Threfall's took me under their wing. There was a lovely barmaid then called Kathy Brady, with whom I had a short fling until she went to Canada. She came back in about 1975/6 and I think she too became a probation officer. It is a long time ago but does anyone remember her or the Threlfalls. Other mates I remember were Davy Kelly, Billy Gavin, Billy Mercer and Jonny Foy. I wonder what happened to them all. All I hjave are happy memories of fantastic people who took care of a young, unconfident lad from the sticks of Northamptonshire!
