Well that was enjoyable and a big help should goal difference become a factor.

Thought you were away and offline Ken?? Welcome back anyway, even with a 'tongue in cheek' post. I would expect you have as much water around you as Orrel Pleasure on a Saturday afternoon, although a little deeper maybe?

I mentioned some time ago that this unbeaten run was just a phase?? I never thought phases could last so long.

As a neutral and ex ref. I see both 'goals' as legal. No way could the 'offside' Wolves player be seen to interfere with that phase of play. The only players directly involved were the winger and the scorer and no defender was distracted by anyone else.

The title is settled so this result was inconsequential anyway.

Not yet Ernie, just kicking out the last of the Gkids this morning .
Big clean up , decs and lights to come down, when they go in’t loft suitcases can come down for packing Wednesday as we leave on Friday.
As the thread was surprisingly dormant after such a momentous week I thought I’d reactivate it despite me signing off earlier.
I think this marginal offside nonsense by a toe or fingernail is taking a lot of decent goals out of the game and there has to be a more liberal interpretation. The Refs would never have denied that Wolves goal but at the same same the Ref should not have blown for the Mane / Lallana goal .
Anyway enough, I hope you and the Reds lads will keep this thread alive and thank you for your input.
All the best for 2020 .
Regards
Ken

What a showing from the kids on Sunday.

Jones' goal was worthy of winning any game. Harvey Elliot was superb again and I was very impressed with Chirivella in midfield.

Fourth round draw was a bit nervy last night as we looked destined to come out against Citeh - happily that one deferred until, hopefully, later in the competition.

Time to dust off this annual joke....

Five managers are sitting in bar: Mr. Guardiola, Mr. Arteta, Mr. Rodgers, Mr. Klopp and Mr. Ancelotti.
The first round of drinks was on Guardiola, he bought everyone a bottle of Estrella, The second round was on Arteta, he bought everyone a San Miguel. The third round was on Rodgers, he bought everyone a pint of Magners, The fourth round was on Klopp, he bought everyone a Jägermeister, except for Ancelotti.

Then Ancelotti asked 'Jurgen, what about my drink?' Klopp looked at him and said 'Sorry Carlo, this is the fourth round, and you're not in it'

So Cenc Tosun can't get a game at Goodison so goes to Palace on loan and scores against Liverpool's main rival for the PL title - you couldn't make it up!

Sure he'll be welcomed back with open arms by the blues

2-0 versus United - that was eventually a relief when Mo ran away and scored.
Despite the brilliant assist from Allison, I am still annoyed that he has this habit of faffing around in the penalty area!
Tonight he was ably assisted by Robertson and Gomez who both nearly gave away the ball in crucial positions.

My heart is not getting any younger and it nearly stopped a couple of times during that game!

Well done the Reds! YNWA :D :D :D

It's getting closer.

Not only are LFC keeping it up, but everyone else seems content to come up with the results we need.

She may well be clearing her throat but the show's still not over until the fat lady sings.

Hard fought win against Wolves last night.
Probably the stiffest test LFC have undergone this season.
That Adama Traore is a phenomenon.

I was genuinely nervous we could have lost there so was relieved when Bobby came up with the winner.
Mo really needs to learn to pass sometimes instead of always trying to score. The winning goal only came about as he was disposessed and the ball broke to Hendo; otherwise he'd have just carried on trying to wriggle through into the box. On other occasions he could have put Ox and Minamino in to score as well.

That 16 point cushion restored as we head into the weekend and another outing for the kids.
Really hope the Reds cash in on that game in hand next Wednesday - a 19 point cushion would really get the fat lady clearing her throat.

Yes Bernie a very nervous victory. Salah should have had a hatrick. Wolves are a good side and should end up in the top four.

It seems Sadio is out for 3 weeks.

Good job we've got the cup game today (surely he wouldn't have featured!) and then the 'winter break' weekend of 8th. Feb off - just the Hammers and Saints to contend with without him.

Very poor performance. I felt sorry for the young lads as the senior players did not help them at all. Lovren and Matip were awful, and Origi was no better. We did not want a replay and I don't think we deserved one, but hey ho we are still in the cup :D

Hear hear Bill.

Lovren was woeful. Fabinho very ring-rusty too.

Very disappointing to give up the advantage presented by that gift of an OG.

Thought JK was about to experience the 5th round for the first time but now, given his stated intention of sending Neil Critchley and his boys into battle in the replay, that seems unlikely.

Chelski await in round 5 if the kids can dispense with Shrewsbury.

Pretty impressive achievement. Good to see the only team to put two past them was Everton

Those LFC kids eh????

Given Shrewsbury's showing in the second half of the initial game I didn't see the youngsters getting past them, but there you go.

Given the involvement of several seniot players in the FA Cup derby, it's fair to say last night's result was more impressive as it was just the kids.

Interesting (??) bit of trivia - LFC have now played 3 games against Shrewsbury; the Shrews have scored an own goal in all 3 of them.

Wonder if JK will take it any more serious now he's finally got through to round 5?

I have just found this old photo in my loft of Liverpool F.C. from the 1930s.

My uncle Sid Roberts is 4th from the right on the second row down.
The gent 2nd from the right on the second row up is Richard Martindale, who was one of the best known coal merchants in Liverpool.

Our cup tie vs Chelski will be screened live by the BBC.

In other news, Mo and Hendo are currently celebrating safe arrival of new babies - 9 months to the day since that epic win against Barcelona!!!

Where was our most potent attacking force last night?
Crap Ref , histrionics from Madrid players , yes, but credit where credit due, we hardly laid a finger on them.
Outstanding defence and work rate from Atleti but some of our “big” players never turned up.
Another big night at Anfield awaits  Ken

The officials were poor, VAR not used when needed and the Madrid players were a disgrace. I hope we destroy them at Anfield.
