Dan great memories mate Gerry was a fantastic player also John Harris Steve Goodwin
Gerry John and Steve should have made it in my playing days in football great players.
Gerry was hard but so skillful in the game
John was like Bobby Moore
Steve well so skillfully with his left foot
Could name others Bobby Owen what a player he was.

Nothing that the groundsmen's forks couldn't sort out Bob.

1928 Baseball Ground. Derby v Nottingham Forest.

Wembley had its problems too, for a while.

1970 Final. Leeds Chelsea. Football poetry. Can see where the term "referee's boots" came from. White laces??

Before I get back to the JOC, a picture that shows how football used to be played. From The League Magazine twitter feed.

January 12 1929. FA Cup 3rd Round. Chelsea 2 Everton 0

Bill Dean challenging the Chelsea keeper Sam Millington. It's possible the goalie had the ball in his hands before contact.

File under "Charging the Keeper".

Season 1972/73 September to November.

The Bootle Times print was very poor during this period. This is the best of the reports.

Hi, Bob. My Dad Terry McCormick asked me to post this photo.

Image

From left to right;

Back row,
Ronny McLean (committee man) John North, Bobby Thomason, Mick Shiels, Terry McCormick (My Dad), Mick McCormick (My Uncle), Trevor Jones, George Jones (Manager);

Leaning forward just about to hit Brian Labone on the head is Gerry Green, (with his hand out,) next to him is Charlie Kidman.

Kneeling Down,
Willem Uittermark, Matty Griffiths, Steve Rooney, Tony Mitchell, Gordon West, Bobby Bolger;

Then the front two are Brian Labone and George Jones' wife Ellen.

This is a photo of Linacre United about 1974 at their Presentation night at the old Wispa nightclub, or maybe Allinsons.
