The old wooden landing Stage at the Pier Head towards the end of its days 1970s. In the background you can see the Royal Insurance building still in progress, it got the nickname the Sandcastle.

journey to Liverpool would have been at the rear of the train. The locomotive would take the empty
train to Lime Street station, probably to the buffer stops at platform 7, so now the " Beaver-Tail " is
again at the rear of the train.
