Had some leftover mashed potatoes and also corned beef so I decided to make some
"Rissoles" used to love them from the Fish & Chip Shop. Got out my hand old English
"Good Housekeeping Cookery Compendium" (that will tell you how old it is) and followed
the recipe - they turned out Grrreat!!!!

With all this time on my hand and no Line Dancing wonder what I will get up to next? :D

Hi Patricia, I remember getting rissoles from the butchers on Park Lane by Dodge in the 70s. However, these were made of chopped bacon and covered in yellow breadcrumbs. They were very salty, I think that's why I haven't seen them since then. What you describe sounds like corn beef hash cakes. :)

Patricia, I remember the name rissoles but can't for the life of me remember what was in them? I could be thinking of "fishcakes" from the local chippy.
Your rissoles look "yummy".

Thanks All for your feedback!
:D No, Ed, not Brandy just Iced Tea!! I do however like a shot of Blackberry Brandy now and then.
Elaine - Here is the recipe I went by but I did add Italian Seasoning.
Rissoles:
4 potatoes (or about 4 cups mashed up)
1 can Corned Beef
1/2 small onion, finely minced
Salt and pepper
1 egg
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
Oil for frying
Boil the potatoes until fork tender about 30 minutes depending on the size of your potatoes.
Place potatoes in a large bowl. Mash them with a masher until there are no more large lumps. Add the corned beef with a fork, shredding it as you go. Add in onion Add salt and pepper to taste. Add in egg. Mix thoroughly. (Optional You can also add cooked veggies i.e. peas, carrots if desired)
Heat a skillet with about one half inch of oil in it on medium heat.
Use a 1/2 cup ice cream scoop or just your hands and make a ball with a scoop of hash. Flatten roll in Panko bread crumb mix and place in frying pan. Cook until a nice, crispy crust forms about 4-5 minutes, flip, and repeat. Remove to a serving platter and cook another batch until done.
We eat them with fried eggs, rice, and some ketchup!
I had salad with mine. :D

Always recall, as a boy, they used to use the word rissoles in comedy sketches as a gag for ar$eholes

They look scrummy Patricia - may give it a go.

Ken you buggeroo... I've just wasted a mouthful of wine spluttering when I read that! Made me laugh out loud but this is my next to last bottle of white..... well apart from fizz!

Ken, don't encourage me, I'm bad enough! H doesn't like fizz and with no one else to share it with I have to drink the whole bottle before it goes flat :D
BTW my food parcel yesterday include a bottle of Cremant …… I prefer it to Prosecco, available in Aldi and Sainsbury's, try it if you haven't already.

Bee, I know the Cremant de Loire from Sainsburys, it’s very nice . K
Patricia, I’ve never heard of some of those wines, especially the German sounding ones but sure they would enhance any rissoles  K

Guaranteed I'm told, to enhance the palette when eating good bland food!!! :D

Not to change the subject, but this was on my computer this morning......
The news shared that at 7:45 am this morning at a local grocery store, that was due to open at 8 am for Seniors Only, a young man walked up from the parking lot and tried to go to the front of the line. An older lady pushed him toward the back of the line with her cane. He returned and tried again but this time an old man punched him in the gut with his walker which made the younger man stumble. As he tried to head to the door for the 3rd time he said, "If you don't let me unlock the doors, you 'll never get in there to do your early Seniors Only shopping!" :D

Comedians would often swap the letter R from Rissoles to a P particularly when making jokes about holes in the snow ⛄️
