I think he might have had ringworm and they used to shave heads I believe.

Bob thank you for posting the class photos of St Mary's junior school. The second photo shows my sister Enid, and the fourth, my brother Ian. I was surprised and happy to see them. I hope you don't mind if I forward a copy to them.

Hi Bob, regarding the school pictures, my sister Enid is on the second photo seated on the front row, third on the left. Ian is on the sixth photo (I originally said fourth) he's on the third row, second left. I love looking at all the old photographs including Bootle Joc. Thanks again for posting them.
Thanks to Dan for the coloured versions. Also to both of you for the many, and varied photos and articles you post. Brilliant !

Yes - . they do look well turned out. Front row bottom right with skewiff tie, round glasses and buck teeth could be me but my mam wasn't born till 1923 so it can't be me.

Thank you so much for the Bedford Rd Photo My Grandfather is on it Walter Pratt of Benedict St born 1916 he is the blonde boy 2 along from female teacher, I recognised him straight away , he became a Cook on the Ships....

I think this is the photo. The National Library referred to is that of Wales in sunny Aberystwyth.

My Grandfather Walter Pratt born 1916 Benedict St is 2nd in from Lady Teacher blonde hair he became a Merchant Seaman Head Chef, his friend at School was Freddy Sayer also born 1916 son of the Bakers Freddy asked my Grandfather to join him and be one of his Bakers but he refused..Freddy will also be on this photo perhaps the boy next to my Grandfather.
