Image christ church 1968/9

Christ Church team during the 68/69 season. I played full back, and am the tall guy 2nd from the right in the back row. Tough league back then Godfrey Dennis
Hi Bobby - left to right, back row as follows:
Dave Kelly (Mgr) Ian Perry, Steve Grindley, Philly Gill, Me, Jim Dolce.
Front Row:
Roy McCann, Mick Vasey, Alan Buckley, Will McGee, Kenny Kones & Martin Taylor.

The team won the Liverpool Cup in May 1969 at Bootle Stadium, referee Jack (or John) Crilly. Losing finalists I think was St Gerard’s or maybe St Mary’s.

Well well Jack Crilly would stand no messing on the pitch in them days :D :D :D Thank you again Godfrey

My father Herbert William Willcox (Bert) is on the right of goalkeeper seated on chair
They must have had a great team Roberts School look at all the names from that school :D :D Big thanks Bill :D

Bill Willcox I played for Warwick Bolam Football team and the Coach for Bootle Boys was from our school was Mr Lloyd. I was part of last 16 group with team to be selected on the last training night which was Thursday. I had made a promise to my younger brother Allan I would come and support him in a final he was playing in for The Grammar School in Netherton. So I went to support him, missed last training session and teacher informed me and Walter France , who was the best goalkeeper in Liverpool area, that we would both never play for Bootle Boys whilst he was in this school, and we never did. I felt more sorry for Walter as he was my mate. Three players from our School who played at Anfield we’re snapped up my Liverpool and Everton

David Graham - Everton

Eric Porter - Liverpool

Hugh McCauley - Liverpool

That is so unfair

Salisbury street school football team. The little fella at the back is my partner Terry Dolan who grew to be 6 ft!! The rest of the team were older than him but he was chosen because he was a great footballer. When he was due to leave school Liverpool schoolboys wanted him but it meant he d have to do another year in school and he said no!!

The Bootle Juvenile Organisations Committee (J.O.C) considered forming, age-restricted, cricket and football leagues in May 1921.

The cricket league was playing during the summer of 1921. The football league was formed for August 1921.

At the time, there was a open Bootle Football League in existence. The Bootle League and the Waterloo-with-Seaforth and Litherland JOC (which preceded Bootle's) League tables for the 1920/21 season will be in the next post.

The J.O.C. Committee.

I played half a season for the Warbreck but that team is 5 or 6 years before me. The manager was Austin or similar. K
