Years ago I was travelling in Southern Brazil with an American colleague who was a bit of a Star gazer and was desperate to see the Southern Cross.
Our Brazilian host took us way out into the countryside, away from the ambient lights of the town but no way could we find the Southern Cross.
Anyway we went back to town had a few beers and dinner and as we were leaving the restaurant the Southern Cross was right above us bold and bright, as, well, a star

That piece about Finnish industrial action reminded me that, at about this time every year the Ice Breaker crews would strike or threaten to strike causing chaos to trade in the Gulf of Finland and Gulf of Bothnia, closing most West Coast ports. Ken
