Hi, I have been trying to find info out about my great grandad, who is listed on the Bootle war memorial. He lost his life on HMS Drake in October 1917. I have his name William J Stanley, date of birth etc and RNR no and actually saw a pic of him from a newspaper cutting, which I think I found on a site called http://www.merseysiderollofhonour, announcing his death, but instead of printing it out I just saved the link to the page and now I can't get on the site. Would anyone know anything about this site, as I know my mum would love to see this pic of her grandad. Thanks in advance.

Good work Bob and welcome Debs you can search his service records and obtain copies for 3.50 from the following link::

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.u ... r/D8537916

From the CWGC site you can search and print out the memorial linked to his name which lists his father William Mother and wife.
