Some great historic pictures there, Joe :)
Have only read about Fort Crosby..never seen a picture!
This photo gives a good clear view of the forts layout, buildings and the ATS girls!
Fort was situated on the Hall Rd to Hightown, stretch of beach!!

Thanks for all the great photos, Joe :)

Sorry Joe
I thought Goodison would be a bit of a stretch, but I can't post on the Everton thread- it's against my religion.

Joe, I lived off Stuart Rd and spent many happy hours playing on the Reservoir, but I do not recollect it looking anything like that. What year was that photo taken? What is the building next to it?

I thought the same Bill, looking at the cars i would say 1960s/1970, i don't remember that tower or that big building.
I was posting what it said in the photo.

Reminds me of a reservoir Bob Hamo and one or two others photographed from the inside (quite a while back) and if my memory is right, it was not Bootle. JJC.

The hidden depths of The Toxteth Reservoir is concealed behind a sandstone facade and a tower on top of a hill on High Park Street in Liverpool.
The building was designed by the city's water engineer in 1853 to supply fresh water to the people of Toxteth is one of the earliest examples of public health engineering in the world.
Half the size of a football pitch, with towering iron columns and soaring arches - it's hard to believe all this was hidden behind derelict Victorian chimneys, empty and unused for over a decade.
But now Toxteth Reservoir will open its cavernous vaults for visitors to step inside one of the first examples of public health engineering in the world.
Perched at the top of High Park Street in Liverpool, the magnificent structure once provided fresh water for the people of Liverpool.

It’s the brickwork of those days that always fascinated me . Like lots of old structures of the quality of work is outstanding. K

It was labelled Liverpool and Leeds canal Bootle 1910.
