With an eye on tomorrow's Champion's League final here's Macca, back in the USSR in, of all places.... Kiev!

A mixed bag from Macca as I recall seeing him do these at the (pre-arena) Kings Dock on this date back in 2003. What a night that was!

Think his first big Liverpool gig was Kings Dock, but June 1990. I was at that one, just before my 40th birthday... wish that was only 15 years ago :(

Spot on Bee. I was lucky enough to be at both gigs.

Honestly don't remember the 1990 gig, to busy with a young family maybe.
Saw Mecca with wings at the Empire 1973, think it was the Venus and Mars tour. They overran their allotted time and a guy from back stage came on and told them to stop playing, when they didn't he literally pulled the plug :D
Saw him again when he played the Cavern in December 1999. We were at the live feed at Chavasse park, at least I think it was there
Also attended the 2008 Anfield gig.

I had tickets for the 2008 gig but had to let the go as I was off work with a back injury - flogged them to Alan M through this site.

For this week, a Nancy Sinatra cover version to mark her 78th birthday today...

The late great Harry Nilsson, a great friend of John Lennon's, would have turned 77 today (D 15/01/94).

Double delight this week folks...

Macca has released a new 'double A side' featuring two tracks from his forthcoming album 'Egypt Station' (out 7 Sept).

Ballad - I Don't Know

More up beat - Come On To Me

The latter reminds me of a Franz Ferdinand track

Looking forward to Phil Jones' gig at the O2 Academy tonight.

Some BBs may recall Phil from such acts as Afraid of Mice, Two's A Crowd, and Up & Running

Delighted to find this little gem so I could feature Phil and still maintain the usual Fab Four Friday scheme of things - enjoy......

Henry

Phil's out on his own nowadays. The bands are no more.
He put a great show on last night though - I bumped in to Bernie Johno on the way out.

Can you believe it's 33 years today since the Live Aid concert?

Here's Macca doing Let It Be at the show.

The video is a bit of a cheat as, you may recall, his mic didn't work properly for a couple of minutes - so he overdubbed the missing vocal in 2005 for the DVD release (think you can make out the difference in the voice to be honest!).

I'm not bothering this time around mate.

Bit on the dear side and, pains to say it, I think he's past his best.

That said, the man is a legend so good luck with tickets!

I was offered tickets which I declined at £140 each with fees (how kind)
I didn't bother because they were on the floor at the very back row.
I'll make do with watching my dvd of the
Back in the World tour which I went to hahaha

A big thums-up to that (see what I did there mate?)

Don't blame you - ticket prices are sky high (as I was reminded when looking at my Killers ticket for last night that came in just north of £80  )
