Does anybody by any chance have a picture of Lurlei, the house occupied by Alderman Peter Ascroft (Mayor of Bootle 1900-1)? And does anyone know when it was pulled down?

It changed hands various times. Some of the inhabitants (not necessarily owners, can be servants or other family) were as follows:

George N. Roose or Boose, Bankrupt 1878; bankruptcy closed 1880
James and Alice Bryers, Public House Managers, 1893
Thomas Wilkinson d. 1894 at Lurlei aged 72
Alderman P. Ascroft, mentioned there in Municipal Yearbook 1908, died there on 1 May 1917 1.7 MB LurleiBootle.jpg Check Error

I'm delighted to be able to answer my own question, because I recently found a picture of LURLEI. As this part of Breeze Hill was demolished, this is a useful record to show what some of the grander Breeze Hill houses looked like. 1.7 MB LurleiBootle.jpg Check Error
