I went to school with Mick Fanning his dad ran the pub use to sunbathe on the terrace at the back. Years later played in the darts team with Eddy Charlie and Alan Thompson

:) :) When the Mount First opened the manager was Mr Brady he was a stickler for good order and ran the pub well.It was in such an atmosphere that the "Kwiz League" was born,when the bar played the parlour.Of course the bar won.So it was an important little pub wasn,t it? We are not as daft as we look in Bootle are we?Thanks for the pics you are so kind to send them in.

I remember the Mount being built. My sister RoseMarie (older than me) and her friends were always in trouble for playing at the building site. My Dad said it was dangerous-but they would still play there. My Dad Johnny Shields was one of the one's who began the Merseyside Quiz League. He would sit writing questions in the evening and read reference books. Happy memories of childhood in Captains Lane.
