Hello, my father Dennis Whelehan who died in December 2018, was one of two sons of James Whelehan (my grandfather) who managed the pub, The Chaucer Vaults in Sea View Road in the early 1940's, I know the pub was demolished after standing derelict for a long time, but if there are any photos of the pub from the 1940's or of Sea View Road , I would be most grateful.
My dad and uncle lived in the pub, and my dad went to primary school in Bootle, and got his scholarship in Bootle and eventually went to St.Francis Xaviers' College Grammar School in Liverpool.
he wrote a story based on his time living in the pub and going to school during the Blitz but it was not published during his lifetime. My dad - Dennis Whelehan was author of the children's book "The Dad Library" which is still in print and published by Penguin Random House Books.
With best wishes, Ben Whelehan
