Dan, The Palace of Applied Arts image is great. It reminded me of both Disneyworld and Portmeirion, rather than Edge Hill. I expected the Electric Light Parade or Rover to make an appearance at any time. Walshy.

Old Haymarket and surrounds mid 70's.

Could always spot the kids who got a Scalextric for Christmas.

Aerial photo of Netherton/Orrell/Aintree centred on the Giro(as was). Who calls it the Santander?

Taken about 2010,at a guess. And no, not ten past eight. Detail is quite good when magnified.

Undated Orrell Park Station

Why anyone would be sitting on top of a ladder on the platform is beyond me.

Dan, Is the man on the ladder in cahoots with the gadgy on the roof of the shelter on the opposite platform ? Ray

Ray

"Gadgy" from the Urban Dictionary- an old nightwatchman or grumpy old man.

Am I getting close? Never heard the word before.

Dan, It is a common word in Newcastle and Gateshead, "Why aye ya bugger". Cheers, ray.

St Andrews from Mildmay Road

It looks like Stanley Road was much narrower when the first photo was taken.

I've looked at the early maps, but none seem to have housing at the junction of Mildmay and Stanley Road.

From 1909 onwards it was always Johnson's Dyeworks on that corner.

That’s right Bob. My Dad and two elder Brothers had them before me.
Now you know why I scored most of my goals from headers

Hope you well Bob.

Not sure if I'm posting in the right section LOL as it's the 'Adverts for local companies' section.

The old Bootle Times newspaper had a section called 'Down Your Street'.

'Fisher the Jewellers' shows as a top advert on this old page.

In the second piccy below I'm the chubby looking kid with the bowl head fringe, and next is my mum Marie holding my lil sis Janet and our awesome next door neighbour Auntie Kitty is on the left.

Piccy above are our neighbours Mrs M Brimage and her daughter Norma , holding one year old Stephen.

Croxteth Road, Bootle.

HA HA! Good stuff Dan :D :D :D

Mack :)

PS: the copy I have of this is an old photo copy from years ago. Looks like you have a better quality version there. Could you possibly email it to me through my profile?

I'll then replace the copy I have with yours in my original post minus the Worzel Gummidge Head changing bit LOL :) :) :)
