Is anyone able to throw any light on this Explosion in 1915 in Violet Rd in which Troops were used to evacuate the residents?

Was the Match Factory there then ?

Great Find Bob !

I wonder whether my Great Grandparents were home at the time at No.12 Violet Rd
I know two of their Daughters worked there as machinists.

This Street is actually Hornby Boulevard not Violet Road, the Windows aren't right, the Matchworks are to the left

Yes, it has Hornby Boulevard right there on the picture.
