Loving the local history, Mack, whole area once a very busy community.
During the 50s - shop at the top of Croxteth Rd sold bubble making solution - 2d a jar brilliant!
Cafe around the corner - sold best hot dogs ever!
Army & Navy stores - loads of bargains to be had - kids, all walking around like little admirals
Linacre Road with its vast array of shops (Tolls, Sturlers, Broadway stores, Armstrong’s (jewellers) various grocery/fruit and veg, sweets/tobacconists, fish shops) the road had it all!
Everything from churches to chippies, with a few good pubs and a cinema thrown in
Sad to say but the days of the (butcher-baker-candlestick maker) well and truly gone..
Still nice to reminisce though
Thanks for the Bootle Times article, Mack
