They not only "Bombed our Chippies !" but also Stan and his Family and Neighbours at Air Raid Shelter
at The Rotunda area (Scotland Rd/Stanley Rd junction)

Now you'll know why he was always on about the Germans, made a career of Laughter & Humour out of a Personal Tragedy.

Thanks for that Alamo. A dreadful day in the history of Bootle and Liverpool. RIP all who suffered.

Thanks Alamo, graphic reminders of the past.
Amazing how anyone survived through the blitz!!
As long as we have pictures and records, the victims shall stay in our memory!

Pictures from the original ‘Bombers Over Merseyside Book’
published by the Liverpool Daily Post And Echo Ltd - 1943!

These heroic Merseysiders, bombed out but undaunted, at least don’t go hungry, thanks to the food lorry from America!

All that remained of Bryant & May’s Factory at Bootle..(I'd say Litherland, book states Bootle)

My Great Grandparents and Family lived in Violet Rd opposite the Bryant and May Factory, many of my Auntie's worked there.

My Mother In Law ( May Kirkham ) having lost her Family on 3rd May 1941 married in August 1941 the lad from across the street in Mount Pleasant. They married in the Temporary church inside the ruins of St. Nicholas's Church. (The Seamans Church)
He was in the Merchant Navy.

My mother lived on Morningside Road when her house was bombed, she does not remember the date when her house was bombed, but it was at 10 Morningside Road. The bomb landed and broke a water main, I think. They were roused by the Air Warden and had to leave everything behind, except their ration books and a few important papers. They moved to Formby. Mum still came back to Bootle on the train for school.
You can take the girl out of Formby - but you can't take Formby out of the girl and me mam's from Bootle!
