There is a website called " The Lost Pubs Project " upon which are listed pubs which have closed over the years, it is a countrywide site, but there is a large section on Liverpool, Bootle, Sefton, there are photographs of a lot of the pubs and people are invited to add any comments, historical facts about each pub, or add any pubs to the site yourself which are now closed / demolished.

Regards

John

Hi Bob. Looking at that photo and listening to Barbra Streisand singing "Memories". I am in tears right now. Lots and lots of good times had in there. Friday and Saturday night singsongs, Thelma was the best barmaid ever. Could order a round for the table and she'd remember what we were all drinking . Never got it wrong.
Old Billy Shacklady singing YNWA. We'd all throw sixpences and coins at him as he was singing :D . Yeah. Them were the days hey.

Hi Bill.
The Blobber probabaly served the best pint of bitter in the village. Remember Tate being told that he had a pipeline through to the canal. He replied "that was for the mild" Place was always packed out on the Friday and Saturday nights.
Billy Shack (the coalman) coming in after work, covered in coal dust. Tatie telling him that "Sambos" weren't allowed to sit down. Never get away with that now.

Bill Shacklady was our coal man in the 60/70s, Ed. To be politically correct, you can't use the term you've used, mate.

What was the brewery for The Jawbone. King Dicks was Walkers, as was The Stanley. Blobber was Threllies. Cant for the life of me think what the Jawbone was. Maybe Bents. Going to have a small brandy and think on it.
