Highest I got to was 4,580 then I gave up.

The mosaic that used to hang behind the altar. It's now in the Metropolitan Cathedral.
I'll try and get a better copy sometime.

Couple of pictures from inside the Baxter Hoare building.

The building was used by Palmer Harvey Distribution,Baxter Hoare, Inspectorate Griffith, Microspec and now DDE Law.

Postal address for the building was 40-42 Derby Road, as if numbers mean anything on Derby Road.

The small unit between the Talbot and Campbell Street was SABRE Taxis HQ for a number of years.

Some, not very good, old pictures from inside the building ,about 1996.

You’re welcome, Joe. I discovered this site about a week ago. It’s proved to be a massive distraction. It’s amazing to read so many threads that mention people/places I remember. I left Bootle in 1977, and looking at some of the photo’s posted, it has changed enormously. Not always for the best.

Orrell Park and Kirkdale stations ==I remember them well--We lived in Orrell Park when we were first married and when with our first babies we would load them into The "Pedigree Valiant" and on a Sunday off we would go to see Nanny who lived in Kirkdale--It was'nt bad getting the pram down the steps at Orrell Park Station but murder at Kirkdale -But the lads at both stations always gave us a hand with the pram . :D

On a tragic note -during the war blackout a smoke making truck crashed through the wall onto the railway lines at Kirkdale station and I believe two men in it were killed in the fire the happened---the last time I was there one could still see that the wall had been fixed (Corner of Marsh St and Hawthorne Rd)

These latest pictures about the Railway Bridge and Orrell Lane / Moss lane do bring back vivid memories---Half way down towards Walton Vale on the left was Thompsons Funerals -I remember there being horse drawn hearses there (Just by the bus stop)---the shop for lease in Orrell Lane was WRIGHTS fruit and vegies--and of course above the chemist was the Orrell Park Ballroom --where I met My Wife- Ruth Marney was the singer on stage and it was a great place to go for a dance.
