Great picture Joe, It is probably late 1980s. The 4 Star petrol is £194.9p per gallon, none of this litre stuff,fatboyjoe90 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 12:46 am Garage on Linacre Road, With Johnsons Bros Building dominating the skyline.

Good Morning
Regarding the Photograph of the Police Mini on the Liverpool / Bootle boundary, this is a Mini Cooper S the " S " is visible on the boot lid, early Cooper S were not fitted with the twin fuel tanks, this is a MK1 version, I think the significance of the photograph being, the officer in the Mini is from Liverpool City Traffic Department which at this time was based at Spekeland Street, the officer in the Ford Anglia presumably is from Bootle, perhaps discussing which side of the boundary an incident has taken place, and who was going to deal with it !!!
Regards
John

Derby Road bridge showing the exposed filling in over arches 22nd May 1894. The route from Seaforth to the Pier Head went over the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. This type of open-topped horse tram was known as a garden seat.

1978 aged 13 I climbed up onto the roof of this garage to retrieve a football after a kick about. Back of the roof had barbed wire.fatboyjoe90 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 12:46 am Garage on Linacre Road, With Johnsons Bros Building dominating the skyline.
I was determined to get the ball back.
Ended up tearing my right leg open with a 7-inch wound. Blood everywhere.
Got home and used masking tape to seal it and did not tell my parents.
They only spotted it when we went on holiday, a few months later, and I was diving into a swimming pool, and they were shocked to see I had this huge wrapping around my leg made of masking tape.
Still got the 7-inch scar today on my right leg for my efforts retrieving the footy ball from that garage roof.
Non of this computer malarkey stuff back then for entertainment.

A similar theme - about the age of 12, I jumped off a moving bus just there. Unfortunately, I was facing the wrong way and slammed the back of my head off the tarmac. I was knocked out and laying sprawled across the road. The bus was stopped and a crowd gathered round but I came to and, declaring myself to be fine, I carried on walking towards Knowsley Road and home. I never mentioned it to my parents but I had no idea that the conductor recognised me and knew where I lived - he turned up after tea wanting to know if I was OK. The shenanigans we often got up to during our youth eh Ian. Ha Ha!
Also remember holding onto the back of a bus going along Linacre Road whilst on me skateboard.
Let go of the back of the bus by Linacre Mission and crashed into a street sign.

When I was 8, I was walking along the top of the tall wall round the old church on Queens Road/Exeter Road when I lost my footing and hit the pavement head first knocking myself out cold, I woke up 4 hours later in Alder Hey with my worried family sat round the bed. We used to ride down the hill on Wadham Road on our skateboards, there was many a time I couldn't turn the corner onto Stanley Road, I'd jump off and the skateboard carried on under the traffic!!!
