I remember them...and the livery on the Wagons where all hand painted, when I worked in JRT, the painters there used to coach paint the Wagons then the sign writers came and done all the company names etc...then they where Varnished over....none of this stencils and stick on stuff!!!

Hi Grekko, I think it was about 64 or 65 I started there, In the stores then was Jimmy Braniff, They called him Dr No cos everytime you asked him if he had a certain part he always said No. Teddy Oslo was head fitter...Charlie Dunne was Tyre Fitter...Alf Hermonson was head painter..Tommy Beard was chief engineer...Sammy French and Tommy Ward the Yard men..

Hi Bob
Brill pics,I have a few but the one,s I have not seen are great so many thanks.
As you know the black & white pics are hard to tell what the colours may have been.
The reason I ask for livery colours is for my hobby of making model of Liverpool lorries of the 50-60s
Ta lad

The way the dock road used to be, some of the wagons could have been queuing up for days back in the day.

Hi Fatboy Jo
Fantastic pics pf lorries and buildings.
Briggs use to sport a dark burgundy livery and Garston Bottle sported green, they had a connection with Peter Jewry S.T.who ran a red livery I believe.
I think Garston Bottle went out of business or taken over by Ind Coope in 1963
Keep digging mate.
Cheers

The wonder of colour photos leaves all that scratching of heads and asking questions that people have cannot remember the answers too.
I remember Rainford's depot at Everton Valley on the old Lyric Cinema site.
The Utd Africa pic has a nice scene with a light blue Ransomes & Rapier 6 ton mobile crane.
The Albert Dexter ran a night trunk service from London's fruit market to Liverpool, it looks red, I have been told it was brownish Atkinson.
Many thanks mate.

Trying to recall the Denny Mott colours, which I think were Navy Blue. I tried to contact an old colleague who would know but heard he emigrated to Canada a couple of years ago.
Any pics of L.Keizer & Co , the wood side had British Racing Green livery ?
Great post this, I'm enjoying the pictures, many thanks. Ken
