There is another picture of Linacre Lane that was transferred from Bootle museum to Southport art gallery in 1974. In fact there are lots of paintings in the Southport gallery that once belonged to Bootle, well they still do actually - they are just on loan

If you type Bootle into the search engine, it will show all the paintings with Bootle in the title. There are lots of other paintings from Bootle gallery, however you will have to open each of the 777 paintings to find out which ones were transferred from Bootle.

There are 777 paintings in the Atkinson Art Gallery. I'm just going through them now and locating the ones that belong to Bootle. If Southport ever leaves Sefton/Merseyside I will start a campaing to get OUR paintings back. I've identified 7 so far, and I'm only on page 2

Prospice i know a few of our posters have written about Bootle artifacts in Southport and also what perhaps may be hiddden away at the town hall it is such a shame.

around there and played in that park and never knew how it looked in the past

unbelievable...thankyou very much.

Up to page 3 and I've identified 16 Bootle paintings. Only another 14 pages to check.

There is a really nice portrait of Captain 'Johnny' Walker, which should have remained in Bootle for historical reasons !

It would be interesting to know how many are actually on display and not locked away in store rooms??

Hi Bob, Really great pictures when you compare the gas works that was there in our time. Can remember pushing a handcart with Jim and Frank to the gasworks to get coke in the bad win ter of 1947.

These photos are amazing thanks for posting, can look at the first OS map and clearly make out each of the buildings in the top pic (I think), will have to see if I can find whether the art at Southport is still online
