Me too!

My Neighbour from across the Street at 13 Randall Drive Mrs Mac worked there and jumped her Death from the Top Floor.

Her Husband Mr Mac was devastated and never got over it.

Alan, was Mrs Mac “Kitty”? Heard the story when I was a kid, was never able to authenticate it, my Nan lived in no. 5, Mrs Pendleton.

Hi Frank (and Joe Mackenzie and all the other volunteers).

A couple of things from my latest wander through this thread.
1) Gladstone dock 1966, is the young fireman on the left the ever-immaculate Billy Monaghan? Maybe Mick Barton could confirm ?
2) Seeing the photograph of Cecil Monk's funeral brought back memories of my dad's Fire Service funeral, which made our family very proud in the terrible circumstances of his sudden death.

Keep on doing what you're doing!
Best wishes from Poland,

Robin
Robin, that man on the left of my grandfather Billy Monaghan yes, great that you recognised him. Did your dad work with him? Maybe my mum will remember him ?
I will dig out old photos are share some !!

Monaghanj, I worked at Buckley Hill fire station in Netherton for 18 years from 1988, the divisional headquarters were situated in the offices above the station. Your grandad was a senior fire prevention officer based at Buckley Hill at that time, I didn’t have a lot to do with that department so I wasn’t familiar with him although he seemed a nice man. I think your nan, Theresa, also worked there at some time.
On the dock fire photograph the tall firefighter standing next to your grandad is Neil Knappet another ex Bootle and Merseyside stalwart.

Thanks Bri, yes my grandmother Theresa worked there too. They lived just behind Buckley Hill at the time. Thanks for replying!

Hiya MonaghanJ --- sorry for the late reply, but yes, my dad (Tom Royle) worked with your granddad in Bootle Fire Brigade, and when my dad passed away in 1973, Mr. Monaghan arranged his funeral. They were great mates, and my parents used to regularly have a pint with Mr and Mrs Monaghan in the Cabbage. Happy memories! Best wishes from Poland, Robin Royle

Anyone know anything about this Bootle Fire Brigade bell - and why it is now in Bath?! It was found in the loft of someone who moved to Bath recently - he told me about it when I told him I was from Bootle.
