Friends of Mary Halford Society, based in Liverpool, is celebrating after receiving a £300 donation from the MARS Milk Fund.
The society topped the voting league this week to win the MARS Milk Fund People’s Choice Award.
The Friends of Mary Halford Society is a non-profit committee of parents who run fundraising events in support of the Mary Halford School of Dance. Mary Halford School of Dance has more than 200 students who learn tap, ballet, modern and jazz. The children are very dedicated, and practice every day throughout the week.
Judith Bostock, one of the parents in the committee says: “Miss Halford has been running the school for more than 25 years, and is very proud of what her students have achieved. She helps the children gain confidence and encourages them to believe in themselves and to achieve their goals.
“The school regularly enters competitions, including Sky’s Got to Dance and Britain’s Got Talent, where they reached the live semi finals, but travelling to these can be expensive. This donation from the MARS Milk Fund will enable us to hire coaches for two competitions coming up in November.”
A recent survey conducted by MARS Milk revealed that despite seven out of ten of us starting the week with intention of spending at least two hours on our favourite sport or hobby, cost and tiredness invariably put paid to these plans.
