Hi folks - we have reached an impasse, in our researching of the Edward George Hodgson family, (Ed) residing in Bootle (1900-1905 known) perhaps sooner and later.

What do we know for sure.
Ed died in Bootle (Hemans St) 1905 age 37 (ie born 1867/68)
Ed was married? to a Sarah McLeod - who was born in Scotland. (via 1901 census, boarding at Chaucer St., age 30 ie born 1870)
There were 2 daughters 1. Margaret Elizabeth M. Hodgson b.1900 -Browning St. d. Africa??
(my Mother) > 2. Sarah M. Hodgson b. 1905 - Hemans St. d.Toronto Canada 1932
Ed reportedly a ship's steward in 1900, and as a ship's butcher in 1905.

What we don't know.
Where was Ed born ?
Where and when married to Sarah ?
(Hodgson/McLeod)
Where there other children, prior to 1900 ?

Some deductions
There was an Edward (George) Hodgson b.Holyhead/Anglesey/Wales 1867
This was a large family 1881 census (head: William - mariner) (wife Elisah) ( kids - William, Edward, Thomas, Elisah J, Lily, ..)
The family is on 1891 Liscard/Wallasey/Cheshire census (minus Ed) (Head: William - mariner)
This is the only family that fits into the time line, that we have found so far.

Interesting
Mother indicated on her marriage certificate, her father's name- Charles Hodgson (adoption or other??)

If this hits a nerve with anyone, we would love to hear from you. Any suggestions?
Have a good day peter -Montreal
