Hiya

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about Kathleen KENNY from Canal St.
She was my paternal grandmother, i am led to believe that she had a brother who died in the 20's/early30's..he was knocked down when he was a toddler.
She later married a Thomas Augustine BYRNE & had 5 sons & 1 daughter.
She died in the 1980's.

Thanks

Hiya Jan,

I do not really know that much.

I'm assuming he will have been no older than 4/5 but that is a guess!

Also from what i can gather this left my grandmother an only child...but even this i am not 100% sure is correct. As for the name ..well it MIGHT have been Joseph/ James.

Sorry i do not have any more information

Hi Debbie, sorry I can't help you with your enquiry. I lived at the other end of Canal Street. I may have known the lady to nod to in passing but the name escapes me. I know a Tony Kenny who lives near the ODVA. He worked on the buses with me and OLD Ron W. I won't ask if that rings a bell for obvious reasons. I hope you are well. Good luck. R R

Debbie,

If you can get back to me with any more info, I have looked through the death indexes from 1925 to 35, I have found a few little ones that died with the surname Kenny (boys) between the ages of 1 and 5, but not knowing the mother's maiden name at birth, it could be any of them. Do you know when your gran was born? I also looked at the death indexes in the 1980's but again, not knowing her age at death is proving difficult.

It's a long time since your post my Uncle and Auntie were Tommy and Kathleen Byrne nee Kenny. They lived for many years in Grimshaw St off Derby Road, both now deceased. They had kids Tommy, Tony, Franny, Kenny, Kathleen and Colin
