Hi,
I'm tring to find more information about my distant relative,George Armstrong. He was married to Margaret Jackson on 16th August 1859,at St.George’s church,Everton. His occupation at the time was listed as Mariner, and lived at Barn Cottage,Bootle. Any info on the location of the cottage would be appreciated. Thanks, Tony

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Later on George lived at 67a Steel Street, around 1870 but sadly died in 1871,buried at Anfield Cemetery on 15th June. Ideallly i am looking for a link to cumberland as that is where i believe he was born. Can't trace any further back from 1859. Also his son George Henry Armstromg was born in 1867 in Bootle, thanks

Hi Tony,

I had a look at the 1861 census (on cd's) but couldn't find Barn Cottage listed.

I found Margaret Armstrong living in Pine Grove Bootle

Here are the details

Mary Jackson Head unmarried age 36
Margaret Armstrong sister married age 26
Henry Jackson father age 60
James Anders cousin age 18

Living next door to them was Robert Lockley he was a witness at the wedding of George and Margaret.

Hope that helps

Hi Tony,
Don't know if this helps but putting Barn Cottage in Find my Past 1939 register addresses comes up with 4 options.
One of those is in Walton on the Hill.
I don't have a subscription for FMP but trying to look it up on Ancestry.

Cheers,
Keith
