It's a long-shot as he passed away in 1966 but did anyone on here ever meet Thomas 'Tom' Fern. He was Everton's goalkeeper from 1913 until the early 1920s? He was later a publican at the Alhambra near the docks - and then the Sefton Arms in West Derby, followed by the Blue Anchor (Aintree) until the late 1950s. In retirement he lived at a bungalow by the Blundellsands Hotel.
Also, if anyone has any images of the Alhambra pub (long gone), I would be very interested in seeing them.
