My late father William Cargill born in Tornaveen, Aberdeenshire 1909, died Turriff, Aberdeenshire 1990. He graduated from Aberdeen University 1930. He worked in Bootle 1930-1939, I think as a schoolteacher, possibly maths. I am preparing a profile of his life but have a total blank from 1930-1939. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt response. I have no addresses for him in Liverpool...he never returned to Liverpool after 1939. I know he attended a wedding of John Kirk, a fellow Scott, possibly a friend/colleague, to Margaret Chatterley daughter of Mr and Mrs Oliver Thomas Chatterley, 73 Oriel Road, Bootle in Nov 1936. What are the dates of the three William Cargill’s you mention? One is 1938 is that the police one...I don’t think he was in the police.

Thanks. Yes he was in Aberdeen 1939-41 and then joined the forces. I am getting info on his war service. As stated, the blank is Liverpool1930-1939. Thanks...I will have a look at the 1939 Census.
