I've been doing my family history on and off for years (and I've had some great help from this board) but now I have a slightly different question.
Daniel Garrett, born Bootle 6/6/1879, joined the Navy on 6/6/97, Navy i.d. 181495. Wounded in action at Nieuport 24th April 1915. Hospitalized in Deal 28/04/15.
In his papers it appears that the French wished to award the "Croix de Guerre". The London Gazette of 1/1/16 evidently reported that he was awarded the DSM.
So, the question is "What did he do to be awarded these medals?" And what happened to him after being admitted to the hospital?
Any help will be, as ever, greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Robin Royle.
