Hi
My mum was bombed out of 13 Benedict St during the war.At the time my sister would have been about 3yrs old.
Is there any way of finding out if they were evacuated at any time?

I found this on ancestry site.

Name: Henry Shalliker
Gender: Male
Marital status: Married
Birth Date: 19 May 1907
Residence Year: 1939
Address: 13 Benedict St
Residence Place: Bootle , Lancashire , England
Occupation: Manager Of Grocery Store
Line Number: 4
Schedule Number: 41
Sub Schedule Number: 1
Enumeration District: NEAJ
Borough: Bootle
Registration District: 454-1
Inferred Spouse: Elsie Shalliker

There was one other person, but the name has been blanked out.

I think there may be evacuee records of school children that were evacuated, but they could be anywhere. I had a look on The National Archives site, and some records are Liverpool RO for evacuees, there are other records but all over the country in various repositories.

Hi
I’m not sure when mum moved into Benedict st but she married dad in 1937
Could the person there be the landlord and owner of the property as mum & dad would have rented.
Thanks again for trying

Always appreciate what you people do

My dad was Joseph Fletcher who lived in Crealock St Kirkdale before marriage I think.
I was brought up in 236a Stanley Rd Kirkdale, above and behind an upholsterers shop.
Who lived in 236a previously ?
After being bombed out of Benedict St and as dad was away in Africa during the war mum went to live with grandma (Dads mum ) in 1 Woolston St,Kirkdale around the corner from 236 Stanley Rd.
Her mum Ellen Ryan ne Andersen lived in 91 Brasenose Rd which was considered too close to the docks and railway!! Although 50yds away bombs landed in Wykeham St and Fountains Rd !!
Thanks again for all your help

Ron,

Your parents and sister were living at 115 Benedict Street in 1939.

Thank you Jan
That clears the address up but strangely 115 doesn’t appear on the record sent to me by Bobammo
I can now find the bomb records for 115 Benedict St
Re evacuation

Looks like 6 people died in Benedict St bombing
The closest was number 110
Seem to remember being told their house wasn’t a direct hit but badly damaged due to fall out of house opposite
Which could be true.
Sadly the Moran & Wilson family lost lives
Very very sad
Mum was lucky,I don’t know if they were at home then or in a shelter.
Must have been terrifying for her she would have been only 26 with a young baby.

Thanks for your help
