Tina - Lovely comments regarding the photos. I see you are heading for a
great time in October. I will let you in on a little secret. Janine told me that
she obtained the dress from a place called "Rent the Runway!" I don't
know if they have it in Australia but you choose a dress and they send it
in two sizes complete with the return package. She knew she would never
wear it again, so had been told this was the best way to go. I know I have
three lovely dresses from the girls' weddings' that I have never worn again,
such a waste of good money!!

Said this was this mode of transportation haha!!

Matt - Great shot of the Moma and Baby Bear. There must be plenty of Black
Bears around as we had a close encounter while in Montana, one came up
close and personal to the house we were staying in and we got several good
shots from the deck!!!! It was the highlight of my visit! Also plenty of Wild
Turkey!! :D

Great photo's there Patricia.Your daughter looks fabulous.
We are having a huge problem with black bears all over Vancouver Island and the coastal mainland
of BC.The wild berries ripened very early this year and bears have come down from the woods for big feasts.
Up to now about 60 have had to be destroyed and about 80 relocated and the wildlife rehab facility about 30 miles away from the Cowichan
Valley has between 30-40 cubs that will be released into the wild next year.

Patricia, thanks so much, love the Great Gatsby look in the photo, gave me some ideas. Matt, beautiful bears, it's so sad when they have to be culled, same with our kangaroos, not enough feed to sustain them. My pal Mal looked after Freddy for the weekend, took him to the park. It's a long slow road to recovery from the puppy farm but the love he receives has sure helped him. T xox

Thanks Margaret. Reading at the mo....Ruth Hamilton Lights of Liverpool published 2012 set in Bootle and surrounds, in the 1950's, Teddy Boys etc. Patricia I you don't like the books about poverty and hardship from years earlier, this one is different, Lpool recovering from the War, living in prefabs, launderettes just opened up. Each family in the street has their own troubles. Great reading Tina :D

Thank's Tina - will certainly have a gander, as that one sounds right up "My Alley!" :D

I have just watched a video called "Brooklyn" about an Irish girl who leaves for the
States and the heartbreak that is involved. You had better have the "Tissues" ready,
I found there were so many incidents which occurred that I also experienced, it really is a
lovely moving movie.
The book " Brooklyn" is a 2009 novel by Irish author Colm Tóibín. It won the 2009 Costa
Novel Award.

Having strong winds and plenty of rain at the moment from "Hermaine" but cannot
complain, as we have been very lucky compared to other States and low-lying
parts of Virginia, which are flooded.

Tina - Wish Harriet a belated "Happy Birthday!!" Sounds like
a fun day with also celebrating "Father's Day! :D

I never thought a seven year old would be teaching me
new tricks, but sure enough, while out in S.F. fixing breakfast
for the three girls, I was preparing some strawberries to
add to their breakfast (they always have a side dish of
fresh fruit w/every meal) and Morgan came up to me and
said "Nana, I can show you a quick way to get the core
out of the strawberry!" she then proceeded to show me.....
Image
Have been doing it ever since! :D
p.s. You have to use one of those hardy plastic straws, not paper ones
and just cut off about a 4inch piece. I just then wash it when I'm
finished and reuse a few more times.

Patricia, great pictures of the family and the big old bear.
Thanks to your granddaughter for the great tip on hulling strawberries, I will be using it from now on.

Tina, glad the pup is doing well. My son had to put his dog Molly to sleep the beginning of June, He misses her so much.
Molly was 15 yrs old and had cancer.

Matt, nice to see your post of mum bear taking her cub to school.

Jean - It really was a lovely story and so true.

While we were in Montana Thom and Lew took the Girls for a walk,
one that was very different from a walk with their Mom & Me!! :D
However, the Girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I guess that is
the reason for a Mom & a Dad!! :D

I can tell you I would never have climbed that high at 7 & 9 years!!

Patricia, I don't have much luck with Orchids coming back to life, so think the silk one might be the way to go for me. It is very pretty.

Margaret, your Orchid sounds very healthy.
Went for a ride to Red Rock Canyon last Sunday, so nice to be out of the city traffic. It's a 15 min. drive from my house.
We had a couple of days in the 80's but back to the 90's for the coming days......Shouldn't complain as much better than 113 F

While we were on holiday in Duck, NC this summer, I discovered
"Tomato Pie" so today I "Googled" and came up with a recipe
for same. I will let you know whether it is a "Hit" or "Miss" :D

Hi Margaret, when Sheila and I did our Baltic cruise last year two places that we visited will stick in
my mind FOREVER .St Petersburg and my favourite Gotland.I love the history and stories about the Vikings
and do not think there is one centimetre of ground that the Vikings did not walk on in Gotland. Our guide was a high school teacher
and I know he shared the same passion about Viking history as me and when I mentioned L'Anse aux Meadow in Newfoundland(first
Viking settlement in N.America 300 years before Columbus) we became best friends for life
Beautiful Island and wonderful town with the best museum.

interested in the latest Destroyer which is at the moment
in Norfolk, Virginia. Have you seen anything like this
before, don't know what to think.............

Thanks Patricia, looks like a cross between a submarine and that "stealth ship"
in the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" but very interesting in that
it's propulsion is Rolls- Royce gas turbines.
