Chance of a lifetime: Liverpool "Football Pink" Echo: March 15, 1975.
A guy from Birkenhead, Steve Wooddin, an Everton fan, read this and decided to apply. He was playing football for Tranmere Rovers but not happy with the progress he was making. So he opted for a new life in Dunedin. In 1977, by now playing for Winsford United in the Cheshire League, he got his NZ immigration papers sorted and flew over there.
On June 15, 1982, thirty-nine years ago today, he scored for New Zealand against Scotland in the World Cup in Malaga, Spain.
The Scotland team included Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hanson, John Wark and Grahame Souness to name but a few.

I honestly think that this would make a cracking true life film.
