Sods Law

Postby ALAMO2008 » Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:02 pm

Our Favourite Nephew who we helped put through his University Degree, lives happily with his girlfriend Becci for 10 years in Allerton,
Then last year they decided to Marry at The Titanic Hotel this March.
I Wear my Hip our over 69 years and finally get to see a Consultant who decides to treat me as a Priority
for Hip Replacement and see him last Friday in Private Hospital in Newport Gwent for Pre Op
and what date does him give me?

Yes, you've guessed it.

The date of the Wedding in Liverpool.

Hey Ho.! Could have put money on it.

Tough luck Al but sure your Nephew will understand.

As per our recent exchange, Janette got signed off on Monday, all good after 6 weeks.
Walking fine, about 1 km per day ,stairs no problem. Some modest discomfort after doing too much but pain relief reduced to a couple of Paracetamol at bedtime.
She hopes to drive and resume swimming next week , so after a few tricky days, early on, all is now looking good.
Best wishes.

Tell me, isn’t a good painkiller given after the surgery? I doubt paracetamol as an analgesic)) It seemed to me that the doctor should prescribe at least something like provacan. Strong drugs harm the buds and liver(especially in old age). I hope I never need surgery. Although the more you guess the less you get...

They gave me Codeine as well as Paracetamol for the anticipated pain which I never had.
The side affect of Codeine is Constipation which filled the bowel put pressure on the bladder, so it didn't work normally, it filled up to dangerous level rushed to A & E had to be fitted with Catheter
which has inhibited my Exercises.
Taking Only Paracetamol now not for my New Hip from 4 weeks ago
walking without Crutches after Two weeks
but Paracetamol now taken for pain in Penis from Catheter still fitted.

I'm really "P****d Off"

As long as I remember there are a lot of bad reviews about Codeine. Nevertheless, I'm glad that in your case everything went without pain. (This allows me to hope for a similar result in a similar case). I wish you a quick and complete recovery))

Sorry to hear that Alan, hope things improve soon.
Janette is doing fine, no pills at all.
A lady 3 doors away from us had the same hip operation in with the same surgeon in the same place as Janette. Operated on the Friday, home on Sunday, walked around here on the Monday to compare notes. Two days later no stick and I saw her driving last Friday which is only two weeks after the op ( we were told no driving for six weeks.). She’s ahead in her recovery but hopefully she doesn’t have a setback as I think she’s doing too much.
Best wishes
