The home team captain is the referee for any disputes.

after playing bowls for over 20 years bill, i can honestly say i have never come across a situation were a home captain has had to make a decision under those rules. the vast majority of distance of bowls from the jack are taken by the bowlers in question at each end, if they cannot decide a call for pegs are asked for. the peggers whose decision is then accepted as final. i will not dispute Bill that the rule you say is in the crown green bowling rules but as i say i have never or known of any other captain having to take that decision i captained a couple parkside teams ror a few years when i was bowling and i thankfully never called upon to make any such like decisions.

Hi Steve(I am assuming that is your name), I agree,I have never seen a captain have to make a decision about measuring, but I have seen seen them have to make decisions about the score, or whether a wood has been bowled illegally or not.

http://www.bcgba.org.uk/laws-of-the-game-pdf/
all the rules of the game.
I am new to the game but have found it very competitive especially marking the card and have had a few disputes already
only a few games left of the season for me, have managed to win a couple but has been all about learning so looking forward to next season already :D :D

Wasn't there a bowling green at the back of Bailey Drive. By the Crescent shops. Entrance would have been off Moss Lane.

Hi Bill. I used to go in the hut at the side of the bowling green, Just after the war. Grandfather was always in there, rolling cigarettes from purloined tobacco. Still remember the horrible smell.

Ed, we took over the green from the council and just pay them a peppercorn rent. In return we maintain the green and the huts and the surrounding grounds ourselves, otherwise it would have been closed down by now.

Your grandson looks as though he's shaping up well Bernie, what a lovely boy. Really good pictures, but where are all the ladies?

Matt, congratulations to Sheila, no wonder you're proud of her.
