Keith, so sorry for your loss. When we've grown up with our in-laws they are our family and we love them, blood doesn't come into it. As Dorothy said "memories forever". xx

Sad time for you and your family, Keith...
Your much loved sister-in-law will now be at peace
Not much consolation; but to be so well thought of by those who grieve....testimony to the love and kindness Mavis shared with her family!!
Take care Keith!

Hi folks, you might remember that Lian had skin cancer and was having surgery to remove the tumour, this was back in February.
Well all went well or so we thought. The surgery was completed and Lian was diligent in applying cream twice a day to speed up the healing process which worked really well.
We went back five weeks after surgery hoping to be told all was fine.
Unfortunately Lian was told that the surgeon hadn't taken enough of the tumour away and she would need more surgery, so the whole process must start again.
Aintree hospital said that they would refer Lian to Whiston hospital as they have a specialised unit there to deal with such matters.
To date Whiston have sent Six appointments and have cancelled each one of them claiming that it was due to unforseen circumstances blah blah blah.
We are at a loss which way to turn, what would you guys do?
Keith

Hi Kieth and Leanne...
What an awful time you are having surly there is
an alternative option other than Whiston I can't advise you
but I am sorry you have this worry hope you get it all sorted soon
having an illness bad enough you don't need lots of upset as well
Dorothy.

Hi Keith, so sorry to hear of Leanne's problem. Twelve months ago my wife Margaret had skin cancer on her nose, her doctor arranged an appointment at Renacres private hospital in Halsall. She was looked at and operated on in no time at all, all on the NHS. No further problems thank goodness.
Best of luck to you both.

Keith and Lian, so very sorry to hear it is still bad for you, I wish I knew words to make you feel a bit better but there isn't any, can hardly believe there have been six appointments cancelled after we are all told to go to the doctor at the first time we have a suspect mole/lump etc. I sincerely hope that you get seen to very soon Lian, thinking of both of you at such a worrying time.

Sorry to hear that Keith . Similar story around here, the local hospital ( Kent ) is quite quick but anything complicated skin wise they refer you to East Grinstead ( East Sussex) which is another story but they are top notch.
For mine,on my back, I went privately, as it was 3 weeks before our long cruise.
The Consultant cut it out next day ( Single Basal cell ) and all OK, in fact, annual review tomorrow. The cost was under £300 then, and I willingly paid it for peace of mind.
Good luck to Lian, facial work is a bit different to other areas so specialist skills needed that’s maybe why Whiston recommended. Hope something comes through quickly for a confirmed appointment.

Keith, horrible situation to find yourself in; Renacres seems to be the obvious solution,,after all, Lian has been through enough
already. All this waiting isn’t helping her condition!!
NHS can’t stress strongly enough, importance of getting cancer treatment straight away.
Whiston isn’t the only hospital around, specialists working in the NHS also working private hospitals!
You could put in a formal complaint...look up Factsheet 59, but don’t think you need the hassle right now!
Meanwhile, Lian is still waiting (worrying time) you could always go down the complementary route, (for time being)
Eggplant - extract cream has helped many skin cancer patients, (not melanoma) Eggplant extract kills only cancerous cells, leaving healthy cells alone..Just a suggestion, but definitely worth a try!!
Hope you get a result soon Keith, Lian could do without the stress!!

We have a Urologist locally named James Riddle ( Jimmy Riddle )Bonesy wrote:Yep that's Mr Boyle Bill, unfortunately he is the one that's messed things up.
On a lighter note, Mr Boyle, skin specialist, you couldn't make it up.

Keith sorry to hear about your loss. I too was diagnosed with skin cancer two years ago and was referred to Whiston where I underwent an operation to remove my 'rogue ulcers' After looking at the biopsy I had to go back for further surgery. Everyone was brilliant from the reception to the surgeon. I can't understand why you have had 6 cancellations I wouldn't be happy mate. Make some noise and get your GP to kick a few butts.

Many thanks for your love, support and suggestions xx
Rang GP yesterday they basically didn't want to know, they just said that it was Aintree hospitals responsibility to get Whiston to sort it out.
Lian is ringing Renacres today to find out how she can be referred to them.

Phil Lian is having to have what they call Mohs surgery ://www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/mohs-surgery
Apparently it is quite a specialise procedure and not many hospitals do it including Aintree or the Royal but the likes of Whiston and Renacres do, so fingers crossed.

Fingers Xed, Keith. I can give you a piece of advice, be very, very assertive. I know for a fact, that many of of our recidivists, been in more than five times, know what to say, shout loudly and don't take no for an answer. Of course you can also write to your local councillor. Don't know who they are now but they use to be, Tony Devine and Tony Robinson. They were my bosses when I was the head groundman for Lydiate. Good luck to you and Lian.
