0 -2. An absolutely dreadful first half performance. Salah wouldn’t get in Tranmere’s team on that performance.

Midfield was poor, some poor passing. Yep Salah also poor.

2-2 They didn’t deserve a draw, Salzburg could have been 5-0 up before we scored. Salzburg players all had more skill than us, they could all go past players and pass accurately. Jones was the only one with the ability to go past people. Ryan Brewster scored two excellent goals and we cannot afford to send him out on loan again. He is a much better option than Origi.

Henry , Van Dyke played this afternoon and got a cut over his eye in the second half. I don’t know who you think they are playing tonight?

I was disappointed with the Salzburg game, again our midfield was poor. Other than Jones and Brewster nobody impressed me in the second half.

Picture from Carl Clemente's twitter feed showing LFC May 1922 parade after the 3rd League title win.

Trainer Charlie Wilson is holding the trophy and Andy McGuigan, board director and ex-player, is opposite.

In the following season LFC retained the title, meaning McGuigan was involved in 3 of LFC's first 4 League titles, having played in the 1900/01 side.

Had to include a picture of the great Alex Raisbeck, from the 1900/01 side, in his Scotland shirt.

After his playing career, McGuigan ran a shop in Liverpool, but no idea where it was. Picture from Mason Vol 134 HSLC.

Watched Spain v Germany last night, can’t believe Liverpool say they are not signing Thiago. He is the type of class player they are crying out for. He hardly misplaced a pass all match and is always looking to pass it forward and not back. I would sell Wijnaldum and buy him in a flash, so much more skillful.

Another poor first half performance from Liverpool 1-2. There was talk this week of colour blindness in football, and I think some of the Liverpool players should be tested, judging by the number of times they pass to the opposition. I honestly can see Liverpool struggling to finish in the top 3 this season without an injection of some class. I think other managers have now worked them out, and they Know that Liverpool only have one way of playing, stop that and they have no plan B.
I know I am probably going to get a lot of flack, but that is my opinion. :(

Strange days with the modern football squads.

Incredible that we had a player wearing number 72 who scored the goal that made the result 7-2!

Not even close to our highest number, Bernie. There's ten players with higher squad numbers.

Number 99 Thomas Hill is the highest. Wonder if numbers greater than 100 are allowed.

111 would be pretty cool.

43 still hasn't been used .

One of the things I love about each new season is the predictions.
City are once again favourites. Prediction and Skybet odds below.

Covid could still throw a spanner in the works.
I think the EPL are reluctant to allow postponements for outbreaks in squads, and teams may have to field youth players
to meet fixture commitments.

Prediction from 4-4-2, which is pretty similar to the other forecasts I've seen.

First game today in the quest for number 20.

Image

If we were to win nothing else, in just two seasons LFC have achieved more than most clubs will ever achieve.

Image

The one certainty in life is; Manchester United will win the Carabao Cup before Liverpool.

Lucky to get away with it today. As I said last week, other managers have worked them out. The defence is wide open to balls over the top, and to players running on to through balls.
I just hope they make some signings. :?

Just over 56 years ago Liverpool played a newly promoted, Championship winning, Leeds side at Anfield.

LFC 2 Leeds United 1 Attendance; 52,548.

History never repeats itself, but it does rhyme.

Wearing number 6. Thiago Alcantara. No pressure.

Looks like it could be Diogo Jota from Wolves next.

Club is going about things very professionally.

Went to bed. Got up. Checked the net. We've bought Jota. £45 million.

He's at Melwood today. LFC are getting to be a seriously impressive machine.

City open away to Wolves tonight and home to Leicester Sunday.
Target of 100 points : 2 defeats 4 draws maximum.
Shocked at LFC's total domination of a title contender in an away fixture.

Arsenal game 3 at Anfield a week today.

Game 3 v Arsenal tonight.

Image

I've read that this season will be declared null and void if 29 games have not been completed.

An incomplete season composed of 29 or more games will be completed on the basis of a team's average points per game basis.

This would also mean a refund of hundreds of millions of pounds to the broadcasters, as occurred last season.

We'll have to wait and see what damage the next international break causes.

*Edit. BBC reports EPL chairmen will vote on this tomorrow. Note to self stop travelling into the wrong future.*

Bit cheesed off listening to Jake Humphrey lecturing EPL clubs on their responsibilities to the lower league clubs.

Sky/BT paid £680,000,000 less for the 2019-2022 rights than for the previous period.

Sky also negotiated a £170 million refund from the EPL for the last covid affected season, deferred to the 2020/21 season.

Haven't seen the figure negotiated by BT.

In total, domestic and foreign broadcasters are looking for a £330 million refund.

BT revenues for 2020 ; £22.82 billion.

Sky revenues for 2019 ; £17.7 billion.

A billion is a thousand million.

Thankfully Allison played, Dan!

Great showing from the Reds, especially in the first half but, if only for the sake of my nerves, I wish they'd wrap games up a bit quicker.

That 3rd goal was very welcome. Jota's off the mark; it sealed the win and, for comedy value put the Reds back above the blues even though they've enjoyed their best start in years.

For the life of me I will never understand why Klopp persists in bringing on Origi. He would not get near any other team in the Premiership IMO. He is AT BEST a Championship player. I can fully understand why Lille supporters voted him their worst player when he was on loan there. Why are we selling a promising player like Brewster, and keeping Origi? My opinion is not based on him missing a penalty last night(which is what I was expecting) but on his overall performances every time I see him.

Have to agree with you Bill on Origi.
Mane tested positive for Corona, having to self isolate and misses the Villa game.
