Agree in part Phil but sport on tv is precious to many of our disabled, housebound folks.
My mate in Devon, a former great Sportsman himself, is stricken with MND and lives for his sports . He follows footy, rugger and cricket in the main but will watch any sport from any part of the World so he is struggling just now.
So whilst I agree about the commercialism of sport many people get great pleasure from the coverage.
I wonder if they would allow “ behind closed doors” matches to be broadcast if and when they resume?

Nice to have you back and your thought provoking opinions, you were missed.

Cheers

Thanks, Ken. Obviously I agree that people live for sport, Ken, maybe I could have made my point better. I am angry at the likes of the IOC and UEFA, who appear to be driven by money. Yes, the Japanese have spent millions of Yen preparing for the Olympics, but they only bowed to international pressure before they postponed them till next year.

It's a similar story to the UEFA, for encouraging thousands of foreign fans to want to visit Merseyside and possibly cross infect Liverpool fans and residents by staging that game. They only took action after Arteta was stricken with Corona Virus. The Premier League are only driven by the huge amounts of money they get from Sky, BT and Amazon, worried they may have to pay it back, if this season is not completed.

I'm sure all of the UK's mental health is going to be challenged by foregoing our favourite pastimes, Ken, but the nation's physical health, I feel is more important. We can overcome depression 99% of the time, but what will the final cost of the Corona virus be?

Personally, I wouldn't watch any games or sport that does not have spectator involvement. I feel the event would fall flat and would the players want it? The games certainly can't be played until the virus is beaten, it would be grossly unfair, and dangerous for everyone involved, just so Sky and BT contracts could be honoured.

There are. 9/10 games left to play. Hopefully the season can restart in July. Finish this season off cancel the pre season games and the Micky mouse cup I can't see the problem. :)

Just watched the Sadio Mane documentary of his life story. Not a bad watch.

Cheers Bill,
I’ll check that out.

With what we know now I wish those games against Atletico Madrid had been cancelled irrespective of the results. In hindsight it looks a bad decision to let those Spanish folks travel to Liverpool

Watched the highlights of the 1977. FA Cup Semi between Reds & Blues at Maine Road 2-2 .
That Terry Mac goal, Duncan McKenzie running the show, the mud and a great atmosphere.
Full blooded tackles, no histrionics, no rolling around or whining to the Ref .
A great watch . LFC went on to win the replay 3-0 but lost the final to MUFC.

Sorry to see Ex LFC forward Michael Robinson has passed away aged just 61.
Lately a top broadcaster/pundit in Spain, Michael is said to have died of skin cancer.
RIP Michael.

Sad news indeed!

George (voice of Anfield) Sephton told a tale about him on Facebok earlier...

When he heard Liverpool were after him he packed a bag, flew over to the Red's pre season training camp and said "Where do I sign?".
