Not at all Ken.

Just aware of the various ways to avoid, or lessen, tax. I really subscribe to the fact that he is a generous man, as I mentioned in my post, and a good person, but that doesn't alter the fact that any decent accountant would advise his client that charity donations are tax deductible.

I would imagine that most high earning footballers (taxed at 46%) adopt this practice but don't get any publicity.

Not sure he would benefit tax wise here from charitable donation made in Egypt, Ernie.
Probably came from overseas earnings, advertising rights, endorsements etc. He’s huge in the Middle East and Asian countries so likely from that income stream.

What a week he’s had, highs and low

Keita also out, he’s another Sturridge or Lallana, delicate flower

Just reading that LFC pay Merseyside police over £500k per season for policing home matches  K

That's only about £20k a match, Ken. Not much really, about 40p per fan. How much is s supporter's safety, worth?

I remember from my “yoof” a tall, grey haired, very distinguished, sergeant who always walked the track before the match, well respected by the Kop. He always carried a cane and had that look of authority about him :D Ken

Liverpool have already bettered their second place misery achieved last year.

If they get to a seven point lead maybe they will even be able to maintain it.

I really enjoy the good humour and banter exchanged between red and blue fans. It is a quality seldom, if ever, enjoyed by fans in any other city. I have enjoyed participating in this 'banter' all my life, it is a Merseyside trait, and so try to join in on this site, but it seems my efforts can, and are, often misunderstood.

I think Ken has misunderstood my latest effort, aimed as a counter to what I thought was an intentionally facetious post from Henry announcing LFC were top of the league after only two games.

There must be a very slim, if any, line between 'wind up' and 'humour'.

Mine was intended to be just banter Ken. I must try harder or, like others, regularly advise that it is only in fun.

As I have often mentioned, the written word can so easily be misunderstood.

As you say Ernie, banter, I lost no sleep over it

You post a lot here and H posts a lot on the other thread and I’m sure all meant in jest.

I’ve seen the so called “banter “ between Arsenal and Spurs fans and Chelsea , West Ham first hand, it’s not nice.

Cheers

Looks like Sturridge ends up at a mid table Turkish club.
A free transfer and surely a cut from his £130k per week LFC wages.
Not a bad signing if he can keep fit, he’s only 29.

If I remember correctly back when we was kids,
A league table wasn't published until the third or fourth match had been played.
I stand to be corrected :D

Please don't apologise Henry.

It really does me good to see a red forecasting we will prosper.

Your confidence makes it a good time for you to buy money and will surely be fully justified, although the odds on an away win may not be too attractive.

However, whatever the result, your post is a very nice gesture indeed.

Thank you.

Everton could have been top of the premier but just not good enough so it's back to the Super Reds to who are the rightful team to be on top again after the Super display against arsenal as we won 3-1

Finally David Luiz got his cumuppance , he’s been getting away with that for years. Clear as, no need for VAR there.

Well done to both of them - let's not forget VVD also won defender of the year as well.

Got to be reasonably happy with the Group E draw.

From my own working perspective we'd have preferred to avoid Napoli as their fans can be 'a bit lively' (to put it mildly).

Suspect the team will be happy there are no expeditions to the former Soviet bloc to negotiate though.

Agree Bern,
First game in Naples looks the toughest but not too bad a group overall.
No complacency though, they are all in it on merit.

Looks like we’re stuck with Lovren as Roma sign Smalling on loan.
Let’s see if Klopp uses him with VVD, Matip & Gomez preferred.
It would have handy to get him off the payroll and give the kids a chance.
