A good article in the Daily Mail today about John Arne Riise. It’s an extract from his new book “Running Man”
Not what you expect, he’s had a sad life and still has lots of issues.
Worth a read.

Shaqiri has to be the best bit of business for this season. Fabhino also looked good.
All round great performance apart from Allyson’s aberration :D Ken

I thought Fabhino was excellent today(M.O.M) but Nabi Keita continues to be a big disappointment.
I have noticed Alisson has had a tendency to spill the ball quite a few times this season, but still a big improvement on what we had before.
I think this was probably the most one sided Man.U v Liverpool match I have ever seen.

Bayern Munich await LFC is the UCL round of 16 - the draw was very close to giving us the a chance to exact revenge on Ramos & co.

Quarter finalists.

Man City
Juve
PSG
Dortmund
Barcelona
Roma
Real Madrid
Liverpool

Prefer we get foreign opposition in the draw, if UEFA are listening.

Ernie, we had our token Englishman ( Clyne ) out on Sunday plus late sub ( Henderson )
We’re adopting Scotland Captain, Andy Robertson after Brexit and the 3 Brazilians are applying for citizenship when they can read the forms. The EU players from Holland and Croatia are Remainers and the Africans like our weather, particularly the snow so they call themselves English.
Meanwhile the American owners are moving from Boston to New York to a new office in the UN Building.
Not to mention the Manager who is pure Scouse ( he says )
So not foreign at all Ernie we are true Red & White  Ken

Can anyone tell me what Liverpool's 'throw in coach' is actually doing to earn his wages? Their throw ins are dreadful. The player taking the throw in stands there for about 30 seconds looking for someone to throw it to and the others players just stand still while being marked. The throw in is then usually just thrown up in the air towards a group of players, and invariably
It is won by the defender. Surely it is a simple thing for a player to just make a quick move into a space to receive the throw, thus retaining possession. I go mad every match watching them give the ball away at throw ins.

That's my rant over for today.

Bill, His throw in specialist is Gomez who is out for 6 weeks then it was TAA who also crocked.
I’d be more worried by the corners, Robbo couldn’t get past the first defender on about 6 corners on Sunday.
The other thing about him, why doesn’t he have a crack at goal when he’s in or near the box? He whips the ball across the box so hard it’s often too fast for the attackers. He has such a good left peg, have a go, please.

Ken, Gomez is the long throw specialist, but both he and TAA both suffer the same problem when it comes to routine throw ins, i.e. nobody free to throw it to. Just watch next match.
I have to agree with you over corners, whoever takes them always seem to hit the first defender.

Morning Biil,
Talk about throw ins and corners, I watched Leicester vs City last night which ended up in penalties. Three shockers from Leicester and one from Raheem Sterling, I’ve never seen such bad penalties  Ken

Looks like training's gone well for tonight's game.
I think Mignolet's dropped his hat.

Good results for Reds today after a great win last night. Blues could do us a favour by taking points off Spurs tomorrow.

Fingers crossed Ken - but when was the last time they did us a favour?
To be fair to EFC, Spurs are a a good side and will present a stern challenge,

Liverpool vs Arsenal
What a disappointment?
I really thought that the Reds should have scored about eight at least!
Seriously, what a great performance. To see Firmino score two goals in quick reply to Arsenal was fantastic.
With Spurs being thumped, it is starting to look like this could be our year, although I am aware that there is a long way to go.
Still, it is a great way to start 2019.

Happy New Year to all on the forum. :D :D

I thought Wijnaldum had a good game, he’s very underrated.
Still a bit too much “faffing” at the back for my liking but the forwards make up for that. Overall , a great show.
Happy New Year.

Without Ozul or Mykhitarian Arsenal had no brains in the team . Iwobi looked dangerous but they were poor. Ken

(Quote) Jurgen Klopp said he "almost cried" when Mohamed Salah let Roberto Firmino take Liverpool's second penalty to complete his hat-trick in Saturday's 5-1 demolition of Arsenal.

Apparently Klopp was impressed by the Salah gesture.

I wonder if he might have really cried and disciplined the pair had the dubious penalty been missed?

Sad to hear of the passing of Liverpool's old mercurial winger, Peter Thompson (aged 76)
