Wonderful tune from Revolver.
Paul McCartney’s favourite among his own compositions, and often cited as his finest love song...

Love this track Bern, it reminds me of my grandad.
Revolver was the only Beatles album I had not owned near to its release date.
Grandad bought me this album for my 15th birthday in 1969, three years after its release.
Thanks for posting.

...and Phil, I honestly came within a whisker of using Emmylou's version but opted for the original at the last minute - true story!

Was trying to find Macca singing 'Birthday' at the Kings Dock in 1990 for my mate, who went to the show with me, and found this video of the full gig.
Turns out he didn't even do Birthday that night
Bit of a change from the usual single tune, and the video quality isn't 100%, but thought it may be of interest.

Ringo doesn't take the spotlight often so, as this (as a double A Side with Eleanor Rigby) was UK number one on this date in 1966......

Bern, for some reason I've always think of Strawberry Fields as being the double A side with Eleanor Rigby, possibly because I prefer to forget Ringo's "singing"
Here's another of his efforts .....for those who like him ;

Strawberry Fields was doubled up with Penny Lane.
Proper little Ringo-fest in here today now - gear-fab, peace and love!

We had one half of the double A side last week so, as they were still number one this week in 1966, here's the other side....

As today we remember the 911 atrocity, I had to pick the song Macca wrote in response to those terrible events.
Not a classic tune, if truth be told, but you can't deny the sentiment behind it.

UK number one on this date in 1968 - Hey Jude, or (for anyone who's seen the movie 'Yesterday') if Ed Sheeran gets his way ' Hey Dude'

Whoa..... Not seen this in a long time Bern, thanks for posting.
This was the first single release on The Beatles own Apple label.
The B side, Revolution was originally intended as the A side with Hey Jude as the B side, but this was changed a few days before it went to pressing.

Cracking little ditty from the Help album.
This was written way back during the Quarrymen days and is classed as The Beatles' first fully acoustic song.

Think I may have used this one before, but it's a cracker from Macca, and I'm picking it for our Frank's wedding anniversary today - it's his fault I ever got grabbed by the Fab Four and for that I thank him, without reservation.

On what should/could have been John's 80th birthday, I just had to go for his signature tune (just shaded it over 'In My Life')
Happy birthday John!

My trivia website tells me that the universe was created on this day in 4004BC - believe that if you will, but it picked the tune today......
"October 23rd 4004 BC : Universe created
On the preceding eve of this day (in the proleptic Julian calendar), the universe was created, according to the archbishop James Ussher in his Ussher-Lightfoot Calendar."

Wonderful little tune from the Hard Day's Night album.
It didn't feature in the film but was the B side of the title track when that came out as a single.

To mark Sunday's 19th anniversary of George's passing, here's the first song he wrote that made it onto a Beatle album.
