Had to be a song with John on lead vocal this week given his 40th anniversary on Tuesday. :(

The original of this song, by The Marvellettes, was US number one on this date in 1961, and was the first Motown single to top the charts.

Had to be something from the brand new McCartney III album (released today).

Sad to say, at first listen, it's not grabbing me - neither did the other track that's dropped on YouTube 'Find My Way'.

Flipping’ ‘eco Bern, I could have happily lived the rest of my life without hearing that.
Literally Sounds like it’s time for Macka to rock on and roll off....preferably taking Cliff Richard with him...

Dreary, dull, disappointing, dreadful.
He should join a Beatles tribute band, but then why spoil a tribute band.

Remembering the late great Harry Nilsson who died on this date in 1994.

See how many Beatles tunes you spot in this.

Not heard that one before Bern, interesting.
Always thought Nilsson to be a bit of an odd bod
I like that though.

I know what you mean about odd-bod mate.

He did do a cracking story album called 'The Point' that had an animated film narrated by Dustin Hoffman. Love it!

What they don't tell you, is that all the tracks can be found online 😁😁

Happy 81st birthday to, Motown legend, Smokey Robinson.

Have to say I'm not that sure about his working of the Beatles belter but see what you think.

Berie, "I second that emotion"; Happy Birthday Smokey Robinson but don't like the cover.
IMO he's overworked what is a beautiful simple song. Definitely a case of less is more.

No likey. Smokey is without doubt a great singer and yet he has recorded some odd songs.

One of my favorites is "Cruisin"

To mark what would have been George's 78th birthday yesterday, I was going to use the Beatles' version from 'Beatle For Sale' but spotted this with Carl Perkins and Dave Edmunds involved and couldn't resist.

On this date in 1964 the Beatles single "Can't Buy Me Love"/"You Can't Do That" was released.
It was to top the charts in UK, US and many other countries.

Although featured in the Yellow Submarine film, Nowhere Man was only released as an album track in the UK, but, as a single, did peak at #3 on the US chart on this date in 1966, and also hit #1 down under.
