Heard a great story on Radio Merseyside yesterday about John Lennons inspiration for writing Strawberry Fields.
In 1967 when John was filming How I Won The War in Almeria, Spain, he rented a villa for the duration. The villa had very large wrought-iron entrance gates, which reminded him of the gates at Strawberry Fields and feeling nostalgic he wrote the song
