If I remember The Letter was on what they called a maxi single, not an ep which had four tracks whereas a maxi single had only three tracks. The other songs on this were Delta Lady and With a Little Help From My Friends.

I saw Joe Cocker in about 1971 at the Empire on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour with Leon Russell and Delaney & Bonnie.

Bill, that clue suggests a caterpillar but can't equate that to the original clue and other than an 80s one (by the Cure) I can't think of anything relevant :(

I want this to be Don't Stop Believing by Journey because it's one of my favorite tracks, but is the wrong decade.

Thinking too deeply there Shelagh.

The song in question is one of, and possibly THE, most enduring song(s) of this century.

Shelagh, Mr. Brightside is the answer.

If you've been to a 'do' in recent years it's one of those tracks that fills the dance floor. It's been in the charts for absolutely ages!

Your go.

Bernie, you’re probably right, Mr Brightside played in the background somewhere, but a little too loud and fast for this old bird :D
Asked my 49 year old if he recognised the song, “of course I do it’s the Killers” turns out he’s a bit of a fan also

Just want to say, love the Beatles thread, last weeks choice “We Can Work It Out” one of my favourites
