Thanks Shelagh, all good experience for him.
Both kids loved the dressing up and the formal occasion, requiring best manners and a good interaction with other diners.
All part of their education .

Shelagh - Many thanks for your comment. Would love to see a photo of your Granddaughter on her first day back to school after the hols!!

Matt - I know you always have a lot of Hummingbirds around your garden but this year I have barely seen any up to now - I guess I'm
getting the ones that are on there way back to where they came from - can't understand why, as I kept the feeder clean and filled and
used your useful tip of putting vaseline on the iron pole to keep the ants away! :o

Hi Patricia, have you moved the location of your hummingbird feeders this year?
if you have that could be the reason. Sometimes it can take months for new locations of a food
source to be imprinted into their brains.Reading books and articles about them it seems they have miniature
GPS systems for brains, once information of location is entered they will remember. We still have about 10 Annas
and they will stay all through the winter but the Rufous have taken off for south west California and northern Mexico.

Matt - I believe you have "Hit the nail on the head!" :D Yes, I have moved the location
as the prior feeders I had needed replacing and I couldn't find any like them i.e:
Glass Tubes that I was able to hang from the Flower baskets on the Patio,. Gaynor bought
me a stand and we placed a larger feeder on it in the garden next to a tree. Oh dear me, I
do hope they will return, especially as I want to go back to the Glass Tubes, as they are
so much easier to upkeep. Now, if I do that, they really will be confused almost as
bad as I am!!!!

Good afternoon Patricia.I am so glad that the information was a help to you.
Now that you have a hummer at your feeder just do not move somewhere else.
The type and shape of the feeders does not matter but as they say "location, location"
is everything now that it has been imprinted into the birds brain.Hope all turns out well for
you next year and you are surrounded by the beautiful tiny flying jewels.

Hi Matt - Here is a photo of the type of bird feeder that I prefer. I don't
know how Lew did it, but he took some lovely photos of the Humming
Birds. I can't seem to keep my hand steady enough to get a clear or near
photo!!!

Lots of patience and a good zoom lens Patricia, and if all else fails
a stiff G&T :) :)
I know this is not a hummingbird (it is a Bewick's Wren) but it took
me about 4 hours to get these.

Matt - Know you must be so very proud of your lovely LADIES!! that is one great photo!!

Over here, teachers have to supply their own Pencils, Pens, Kleenex, Hand Wipes etc., for the
classroom students and it sometimes proves to be quite expensive. Janine found out about
a link where you can ask for donations for the classroom, sent a personal request
and then hoped for the best. Well, she hit "Bingo" and here is a photo to prove it. Being Janine,
she is going to share with the other English Teachers in her Department.

Image

Here is what she wrote on her Facebook page:
"I have so many reasons to smile! My #Clearlist has gone above and beyond - helping not just my
classroom but the entire English Department. We have pencils, pens, paper, Kleenex and hand sanitizer
for all our classes. Thank you for such generosity Lisa Bartelli, the Busby Family and many anonymous
donors. This pile is almost as tall as I am! Thank you all again!"

Nice family pictures.
Patricia, I can’t believe the teachers have to provide for their students . We have Parent Support groups which raise funds for extras but the basic items are provided, although I’m not sure how much hand sanitizer is used  Ken

Yes, Ken, it's hard to believe but it's true.

"In the States do teachers have to supply at their own expense pens, pencils, tissues etc.,?

Aug 9, 2019 - “On average, these teachers reported spending $479 of their own money ... “These teachers have to pay for everything from basic pencils, pens, tissues, hand sanitizers, etc...... ..Teachers Have To Spend Too Much Of Their Own Money On Supplies For Their Students ... "

Thank you all for your very kind comments concerning the ladies in my life.

Here in Canada children returning to school are given a list of supplies needed
for the coming term and include all that Patricia stated that Janine listed BUT
as we have the largest First Nations Reserve in Western Canada here in Duncan
many of those children's parents just do not bother buying what their children need
so like Patricia's daughter the onus is on the schoolteacher to supply their needs
another BUT, our schoolteachers likely make double the wages of a teacher from
the USA.

To be fair, our kids do go back with their own supplies in the “pencil case “ :D

I remember in later years of senior school our parents were asked to buy a practical drawing set.
It cost then 17/6 which was big money to parents in 1962
I got one but was useless at it and disliked the pompous little napoleon who taught it so I dropped it in my 5th year.
No regrets, I’ve managed to get through life without practical drawing

Pay scale for BC teachers. Ontario is higher

“Canadian teachers are well paid: salaries after 15 years of experience are among the highest across OECD countries at $90 (U.S.) per teaching hour for secondary school teachers and more than $65,000 (U.S.) per year,” says a summary of the Canadian portion of the data. (All figures are in U.S. dollars.)
“Across OECD countries, the average statutory salary per teaching hour after 15 years of experience and with typical qualifications is $53 for primary teachers, $63 for lower secondary teachers and $71 for upper secondary teachers in general education. In Canada, salaries per teaching hour are $84 at the primary level and $90” at the secondary level.
Secondary teachers wages, averaging $66,700 are the fourth highest internationally, after Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

There was a new Attorney arrived to open up his office at the building
I was working in for Attorney Griffin and to the amusement of all
the occupants in the building, it was some time before the newly
arrived Attorney noticed that his sign outside was missing a couple
of letters, which should have read: "Assoc." Wonder if it was
accidental? :D

What is the world coming to? :D
Two Amish men ran into the woods while their horse and buggy continued down the road when deputies pull them over.

Sheriff’s deputies in Trumbull County, Ohio, pulled over the buggy - complete with beer and a large stereo system - around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, WKBN First News 27 reports.

Thanks Patricia,
Some of them are Kent Champs but most are the Royal Tunbridge Wells club where he was club champion for two years.
With five young kids his time at the pool is limited to social but he does gym and swim a couple of times a week.
His niece, our Georgia is in the Top Squad at the RTW club so our Debs is going through what we “suffered” with the early morning/ late night training and transport involved

A very nice picture of Lew and the twins :D

So this is what the Amish men get up to  great story Patricia!
Hope the culprits don’t get punished too harshly by their community!!
