This was the picture of the day from BBC South East.
Poppies in a field near Birchington, Kent.
I posted it for Patricia, I think you know this area Patricia, just to let you know we are thinking of you.

Ken - That was so touching and thoughtful of you, It certainly meant
a lot. Have visited Birchington so many times over the past Forty
years, feel very comfortable there.
Gaynor's hubby, Peter, has always referred jokingly to us both
as "Lady Patricia & Sir Luther." Yesterday was Lew's Birthday
and I received some lovely flowers from Peter addressed: "In
Remembrance of "Sir Luther!" Gaynor sent the beautiful Yellow
Roses.
It certainly is a continued great help to have the support of Family & Friends at this
most difficult time in my life.

Such a lovely gesture by Gaynor and Peter!

Thanks Shelagh.Wish I had taken my father's photograph album with me as he took
some fantastic black and white photo's of the Sphynx and the Great Pyramid in 1937
before the Temple under the Sphynx was excavated with sand all the way up to
the paws and the face had not yet begun to rot away caused by pollution.

Bernie, I think it is a moth, because most butterflies fold their wings when at rest. I'll just go and get the book to look it up for you.

Best I can find is a Large emerald . This lives on Hazel trees and is attracted to lighted windowa. It doesn't look emerald in my book, but does have the lines on the wings. Wing span 1 7/8 " or 48mm. Found through out the British Isles except northern Scotland. Hope this is it.

Hi Bernie ,is keyhole surgery the same as Arthroscopy? If so I had it done to my knee
because of a floating piece of cartilage and after just one day using crutches my knee was without
pain for the first time in years.Geez you will be running round like a teenager pretty soon :D :D
I will not say "good luck" but instead "have a GREAT time when all is done".

View of the north east coast from apartment we use when visiting (historic) York and Scarborough castle..so tranquil!!

Image

Below, Headstone of Novelist Ann Bronte!
To spend her last days in the place she loved (Scarborough) were her dying wishes!!
Image
Anne is buried in the beautiful little churchyard of St Mary’s, the Church is situated at the top of the hill, close to the castle, originally built in the fifteen hundreds, rebuilt again a couple of centuries later, but still very much in tact..the walk back down the hill leads to the harbour, lovely spot for a well earned liquid refreshment
