Forum’s Tribute in Memory of 13 Special Members
Posted: Tue May 24, 2011 10:49 am
Keith (Bonesy) has organised a fine tribute to our members that is being supported by the Forum and Eddy Lloyd has suggested a Tribute Fund Raising night and is helping to organise it.
Perhaps the following could be posted as a ‘Sticky' by Mack in one or more of the categories. This might help new and recent members who may not be aware of the specical contribution those we are honouring made to the Forum. The photographs on the site's homepage are not seen by Forum members who login in directly to the Forum and the 'sticky' would give greater prominence

FORUM'S TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF FIVE SPECIAL MEMBERS
Ron Sherrington (Red Ron) (Sadly left us in 2007)
Ron was a gifted poet who produced a large collection of poems in his own style that captured his ability to judge the mood of people and the occasion. He was a fair man, but also straight talking. Like John Moorcroft he was master of banter, especially when it involved his friend and fellow member, Ron Waters.
John Moorcroft (Sadly left us in 2007)
John was a fine artist, poet and singer. His quick wit entertained the early Forum members with his banter. He was a modest man despite his talents and was always welcoming and supportive to other members. John probably typified most people’s idea of a naturally funny and witty Scouser with his perfect timing and ability to come up with a quick reply. His humour was never smutty, but very, very funny.
Marielou (Sadly left us in 2011)
Marielou was a modern lady who had retained old values, never forgetting the roots of her childhood. Always willing to help and support members even if it resulted in her personal discomfort when she was confrontational on the behalf of others. She embraced technology and particularly photo imaging and became the Forum’s expert as well as providing brilliant slideshows for members. Her popularity was no doubt enhanced by her modesty and dignity
Annie O’Sullivan (Sadly left us in 2011)
Annie was a fun loving lady who provided great amusement to many early Forum members and it was testimony to her popularity that when she returned to the Forum after a long absence she quickly endeared herself to new members. Annie retained her sense of humour and sense of fun even during the periods of discomfort due to illness.
Peter Woolley (Sadly left us in 2011)
Peter was a former policeman who probably became Bootle’s foremost historian. Peter wrote many books that also contained a fine collection of photographs that have been, and will continue to be, a great source of information to those interested in Bootle’s past. His fine books will provide a lasting legacy of his contribution in ensuring that some of Bootle’s history is well documented.
